Interesting Coffee Fact: Ceylon

Interesting Coffee fact for this week...

In 1886 coffee rust infects the coffee of Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), devastating hundreds of thousands of acres of trees. Tea is planted instead, helping to turn Britain into a tea-drinking nation. Coffee leaf rust is spread by wind and rain from spores from lesions on the underside of the plant (Mitchell, 84).
